After I upgraded iTunes to v. 11, I don't find any iPhone summary or set up panels. The iPhone and eject symbol appear at top right, but there is no left hand column listing my devices. Top left is a pull-down menu for music, apps, etc on the iPhone. (The display is different from earlier versions and less useful - the apps is enormous and icon size can't be changed, but these are the least of my quandries.)
When I go to iTunes Store while my iPhone is still connected, I can't get back to the iPhone panels - no route seems available - and I lose the eject button.
What happened to the summary and set up panels, the device column, and the ability to move back and forth between iPhone (on computer) and iTunes?
The only thing the standard support description raises a question about is that my iPhone is connected via USB hub. But iMac - 3 USB posrts - gives little flexibility. I need one for TimeMachine external drive; one for UPS; and one for the powered hub. Also, the port I use shouldn't affect the appearance of iTunes.
Also, my iMac is still on OS X 10.6.8, but I can find nothing suggesting that is insufficient for iTunes 11.
