iphone 4 display broken- options at apple stores

Hi all,

Wondering if there are any options to get a replacement at the Apple Store for a reduced price.

My iPhone is only 1.5 years of age, but unfortunately i've managed to break the Front Display. I'm unable to make a new provider contract as mine is still running for an additional half year.

A friend of mine now told me that he got a replacement (think it was a refurbished iPhone 4) at the Apple Store for around 150 $.

Anyone familiar with this method or was he just lucky?
