For some reason, I'm unable to send or receive group MMS messages to other iPhone users from my iPhone with my data turned off. (I've tried all combinations of iPhones - 4, 4s & 5 and carriers) Though Android users seem to not have this problem. I wish my iPhone would use my unlimited SMS through AT&T for my group messages, but for some reason it refuses to do so if my data is off.
In addition, Group MMS will not work with iMessage even when all phones are connected to WiFi if the data is off. I've spend over an hour at my local AT&T store, and the problem is clearly an Apple software glitch. For some reason, iOS 6.0.2 is requiring celluar data to be on in order to send group MMS messages.
Is there any way to solve this problem??? My teenagers have the smallest data plan and leave their phones with the data off most of the time.
