Updating my 3g ios 4.3

People, can you help me? I have an older model 3g, 16gb iphone. Every time i try to download an app a notice pops up. stateing " requires 4.3 update."

my plan is up next month. untill I get a new phone. Mean while i cant even sync this one. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
