Deleting contacts on old phone but not new phone

I lent someone my old iphone4 with their sim now all their contacts are on my new phone. They no longer use my old phone so how can I delete their contacts & not mine? Can I wipe my old phone completely without it affecting my new phone as I have icloud on both. Can I delete iCloud on old phone or will it delete it from my new phone? Thanks
