iOS6.1 upload

After uploading the latest software to my Iphone 5, my son told me he go see my text messages i was sending from my phone.  He is 17 and has an iphone under linked to my account.  Is this a problem that can be fixed (i-cloud issue?) Or do i need to set him up a new account under his name?
