I submitted this as a bug report through Apple's system before realizing I might have a better chance here... This is what I typed for the Description:
Ever since last night, whenever I start Siri to dictate text messages (or just to use Siri in general), her sounds are extremely loud, as well as her speech in general, even when the phone is muted (orange showing on the left-hand switch). I had changed no settings, but I was using the Maps application to navigate a lot yesterday including going back Home to look at other apps though did not go into any (the green navigation banner stayed up as it should have). That may have applied some setting permanently that I can't get back to. Changing the Navigation volume in Settings does nothing about the global Siri volume, nor does restarting the phone. [Speakerphone is at normal volume and did not change.]
This is extremely frustrating, as I rely quite heavily on dictating texts and don't like having my ears blown out when I hit that little microphone button, and I'm sure the little internal speaker is done no favors by blasting like that. I'm sure it's just a bug that can be easily fixed with a patch or something, but I think I should lay off Siri until it is fixed.
You do have absolutely amazing products and I thoroughly enjoy using them, and this is really the first major bug I've encountered with one of your devices (besides the iPad 2 failing to activate when I first got it a little over a year ago, but that was solved quickly). I'm confident this can be fixed quickly!
