iPhone keyboard glitchy in messaging

Hello,

I got my iPhone 5 about two months ago. It's been working fine, but today the keyboard started acting up. It works fine in Safari, but when I'm trying to type text messages, the backspace key doesn't work and when I do the double-tap-spacebar-to-get-period shortcut, it puts an extra space before the period. What's up with this?
