have an iphone 4s have overloaded it with pictures How delete all pictures from iphone to free up space

Trying to find out how to delete all photos off of iphone 4. My phone is overloaded and able function at the moment. Please tell me what I need to do to get rid of all of these pictures. Phone Blinks often and drops all contacts and phone numbers.
