iPhone 4 iOS 6 MacBook Air OS X 10.8.2 iTunes 10.7 podcast not found on iPhone

I am new to Apple products.  I just purchased a MacBook Air and an iPhone 4.  I am a news junky and subscribe to several news and politics podcasts on my MacBook Air.  I tethered my iphone to my MacBook Air, synchronized and saw that my podcasts (a file folder with podcasts) appeared under the cell phone icon in iTunes on my MacBook Air.  But cannot find the file folder "podcasts" in iTunes on my iPhone.  Can't find the podcast folder or podcasts anywhere in my iPhone.

Help...
