Why won't my new iPhone 5 sync to iTunes

I tried to sync my new iPhone 5 to iTunes so my apps from my iPad would be on my iPhone. i upgraded my iTunes andI had no problems syncing my iPad. But when I try to sync my iPhone, it just stops after "waiting for changes to be applied". Anyone know why & what I can do? Thanks!!
