Successfully using Exchange to Sync iPad iPhone Gmail (PC) contacts. If lose my iPhone and contacts were erased would lose them everywhere Backup

I am successfully using Exchange to keep my contacts in sync on my ipad,iPhone and gmail(windows 7). But I think that if I lost my iPhone and someone cleaned out the contacts,then I would also lose the contacts on my Gmail and iPad. How can I do a regular backup of the contacts?
