When swiping Messages Notifications it takes to wrong text or messages list

When I get a notification of a new text message on my iPhone 4S running iOS 6, whether it be in the lock screen or the top bar, if I swipe or select that notification, it doesn't take me to that new text.  Instead it takes me to the last thing I was viewing in Messages before the new text.  I've done all the obvious things - restart, reset, etc. but none seem to work.
