Sharing calendars between two phones

I have two iphones on different mobile networks.  I am trying to share my calendars across both phones and thought I could do this via iCloud.  Everything appears on the original phone but I cannot get any calendar appointments to appear on second.  Same Apple ID for both phones, exchange also set up on both. I have also plugged the second phone into iTunes and synched it. 

Have also tried to share calendars via original phone but as I'm really sharing with myself I have to put in my own email address which doesn;t seem to prodice any results.  I'm probably missing something but any help much aprpeciated.
