Pandora won't play when connected to power source with 30-pin to Lightning adapter

Connecting my iPhone 5 using the new 30-pin to Lightning Adapter (0.2m) into a Logitech portable speaker (Model S315i) that is turned off.  I also have Bose earbuds connected to the iPhone.  Starting Pandora app (latest version), the music starts but then immediately stops.  I can hit the app's Play button and it starts, but immediately stops.  If I disconnect the earbuds and power on the Logitech, Pandora plays through the portable speakers without stopping.
